01036_Portrait of Goat

When it comes to your work are you an idealist? How far are you willing to go with your artistic integrity? There was a point when I truly discovered the fullness of quality that artistic works can be. Like when I discovered Jean-Luc Godard, or Robert Rauchenberg. Any other movie artwork that was not of such a caliber was not worthy of my eyes, or my time. In essence, I was a snob. Then, some years later I started to broaden my scope again. I was reminded of the many other forms out there, and I wanted to discover their value. It also breeded laziness in me. I was going where the wind blew me, but not always in that Romantic sense. It takes hard work and dedication to devote yourself to challenging pieces of art, be it books, film etc. And to constantly challenge yourself in such a manner. Both extremities breed different monsters. Both are exclusive in their own right. Let’s call them the “snob” and the “sheep”.  Now days, maybe now that I’m in the mood to challenge myself again, I’d like to devote myself to works of appreciation. Works that I appreciate for existing. Trying to follow my heart and my brain at the same time.

Giving thanks,
