What should go on a Resume?

1. Your Name – duh.

2. Representation – The name of your reps and their information.

3. Film Credits- Here you want to list the title of the production and the director. (Character is optional)

4. Television Credits – List the show title, the Network and your level of involvement*

Levels of Involvement

Regular – Appears on the show every week, is most likely in the opening credits.

Recurring – Is not in the opening credits, but appears on the show frequently.

Guest Star – Appears on the show for an episode, but has substantial time. More than one scene.

Costar – Has somewhere between one line and one scene.

*Note – Costar and guest star can also be determined by billing and pay. You can technically be a costar and be billed as a guest star etc.

5. Theater Credits - You want the name of the production, and the name of the theater. Most people will recognize famous theaters like The Kennedy Center etc.

6. Training – List the training, like if whether it’s scene study or on camera, voice and speech, and then you want to list the teacher’s names. Whatever seems reputable, whatever seems recognizable will help you.

Special Skills – This normally goes somewhere at the bottom. If you’ve ever ran track, if you play the digeredoo. These are things the casting director may lean towards you for. This is also the section that is easier to imbellish. I had an old acting teacher tell me, if you don’t know how to ride a motorcycle, tell them you do, and figure it out when you get cast. THIS IS NOT ALWAYS APPLICABLE SO BE CAREFUL.

When should you update your resume?

Every time you do something worth putting on there!

How should it look?

Obviously like any resume, you want it to look professional and presentable. And remember it should only be a page long! don’t get caught up trying to list everything you’ve ever done, every teacher you’ve ever worked with. Keep it simple, attractive, and slick.

Continuing with the gift conversation. Here are two examples of the more ACTIVE gifts of the bunch. The others all of them require being open and available. But these two in particular are less passive than the rest. Would love to hear you thoughts and different approaches to these gifts. Cheers!
